FOTOPERIODE: Influence of the photoperiod on the feeding and productive behavior of fattening calves.

Seasonality seems to have an influence on the productive parameters of fattening calves. Preliminary analysis of seasonal values of daily gain in production companies and from the IRTA’s database point a tendency to better results with longer days. In order to evaluate if the hours of light had an influence on growth, a trial was designed in autumn whith the treatment group progressively receiving additional hours of artificial light. The results showed changes in the general behavior indicators, notably in the eating ones, but there were no differences in the productive parameters.
